An abridged version of The Yin Yang is featured in AsianWeek, the leading Asian American newsweekly magazine, and is now available in Beta at www.AsianWeek.com. AsianWeek is headquartered in San Francisco, California, and was established in 1979 by the late John C. Fang, a veteran news journalist from Hong Kong, China, and strives to present a public space for all issues to be heard from the Asian American community at large — and discussed fairly, equally, and with the least amount of editorial censure.
Lisa Lee has been covering the red carpet, crashing award shows, making broadcast promos for Stuff magazine, slipping fashion tips to Tim Gunn, pitching shows, starring in films, touring the film festival circuit, modeling, and being an overall media maven since 1998. She’s not telling you how old she is, but she does have a college degree from the University of California, Davis, and helped pay the rent by putting on punk rock shows in her living room and astroturfing the roof into a miniature golf course.
Just don’t ask about what we did with the pool.
You can catch Lisa Lee’s U.S.-premiere in Wayne Wang’s film, The Princess of Nebraska, on opening night at the 26th Annual San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival, March 13-23, 2008. Visit http://asianamericanmedia.org/ for more information on schedules and ticket prices. The Princess of Nebraska held its world premiere at the prestigious Venice Film Festival in August 2007, and Wayne Wang has directed other films such as Eat a Cup of Tea, The Joy Luck Club, Maid in Manhattan, Because of Winn Dixie, Last Holiday, Chinese Box, and Chan is Missing.
Also — don’t forget to check out ’60s synth pop band, Scrabbel, and their new music video “Emily, I” premiering at this year’s film festival as well!
